FLW Stren Series (Northern), Fishers of Men, Local Series
Mr.
Johnsonbaugh also volunteers his time to work with the Make A Wish
Foundation, Event Chairman Jaffa Shrine Sports Show Chairman Childs
Wish, Volunteer Angler.
A great deal of his time away from the water, and work, is spent
helping helping children. I have been a Shriner for 9 years now, helping
to raise funds for crippled & burned children, to continue to support
our our hospitals.
Over the past 8 years, I have always done fairly well on my own. For
the most part, early in my career, it was relatively inexpensive at the
local level, depending on the size of your club, and the closeness of
the lakes in proximity to you. In 2003 and 2004, I focused much of my
attention on the club level, but I ventured out into some larger Buddy
tournaments to gain further experience. In 2005, I continued to
participate at the club level, as well as joining one of Central PA ’s
larger tournament series, a series which brings in excess of 100 boats
to each of it’s 7 events. My continued focus was to keep expanding into
larger events and series.
In 2007 I concentrated mainly on the Fishers of Men National Trail,
Appalachian Division. Finishing out the regular season in 13th place
overall, and qualifying for the Eastern Regional Tournament in North
Carolina. 2007 was a long year for me, starting in April with some
family health issues, causing me to cancel out of the Bassmaster Elite
events I had registered for. But I did use this year to work harder,
learn more, and really try and prepare myself for the '08 season, and my
goal moving up.
Now heading into 2008 I am going to continue following my goals. I will
fish the entire Fishers Of Men Trail again in the Appalachian Division.
I am also going forward and plan on finishing the FLW Stren Northern
Series as a boater. This is a huge step for me, but I need to stay
focused and continue forward. The two toughest things I will face in
doing so, is increased competition and a tremendous increase in
expenses. These events bring over 150 boats to each tournament. Many of
the anglers in this series are professionals, and they are very, very,
good. So 2008 looks to be very interesting for me.
